I have finally taken the plunge and am going to upgrade to Vista, mainly to play games on DX10, with CoH patch 1.7 and Lost Planet out and games like Crisis, World in Conflict etc. not that far away I need to go to DX10. As I am spending £60 on Home Premium I only have £200 to spend on a graphics card. So which 8800 GTS should I get, is there really that big a performance gap between the OCUK one and the more expensive ones? Or should I save my £20 and treat my girlfriend to a movie?

I think for £200 you can only afford the 320MB versions. I would perhaps wait a while until you can afford a 640MB one, and aye, treat your missus to a meal, which might = nighttime fun that graphics cards can't give you hehe ;)

If i was you, id hold on to my Vista cash. Current DX10 titles arnt all they are cracked up to be. Some chap on here was really peeved when he found out his new dual GTX rig couldnt run COH DX10, lost planet DX10 very well.

Stick to DX9 for now. Dont think of the 8800s as good DX10 cards, because we just dont know, we may find out that they are when Crysis/Bioshock comes about, but for now they are great DX9 cards.

Ive just bought the OcUK one. Mainly due to the reviews on OcUK of it.

No performance gap at all, unless you're comparing the OcUK one to the factory overclocked ones like the OC/OC2/Superclocked models. All they are though is standard cards that have been factory overclocked and you'd be very unlucky to buy a 500/1600 one and not be able to overclock it up to and beyond the OC/OC2/Superclocked cards.

when u do go for an 8800gts save more for the 640 mb version, far better in the long run. youll be fit to knock details up in your games quite a bit more compared to the 320 gts
