Budget of £260, conveniently enough.....

Should I get the BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB or the Gainward BLISS GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB to replace my tempremental HIS x1950 Pro 256??

Will be used for C&C3, Supreme Comm., ArmA, Company of Heroes at 1600x1024 and hooked up to an E6300 at stock (for now), 2GB PC6400, Gigabyte DS4, 2x36GB raptors RAID etc etc.

Am I going to get better performance from the OC'd 320MB card or from the stock 640MB version??

What are the recommended manufacturers??

Thanks for the assist!!

I'd get the Gainward tbh, as you'll appreciate the extra memory at those resolutions.

Gainward, BFG and EVGA are all great.

Also, to save me opening a new thread, how noisy are these cards? I know that this is a "how long is a piece of string" type question, but will I need to buy ear-plugs to save my eardrums?

I've got the gainward GTS 640mb, its whisper quiet. Much quieter than any of the casefans I have.

Loadsamoney, do you have your 320mb GTS clocked at all? What res do you game at? Do you have Oblivion and COH? If so is it capable of running them fairly maxxed out? Reason i ask is that i am upgrading to either a 320mb or 640mb version and after reading loads of reviews i am still no wiser as to which one to get.

I play at 1280x1024 but i do like to turn all the eye candy right up.

Thanks.

1280x1024 and its stock, runs Oblivion maxed out perfectly fine, 2xAA/16xAF plus HDR on, plus Supersampling (hence why i only use 2xAA as SS is a big hit on performance, but at 2xAA its about nothing), gets between 44-60fps outdoors (v-sync on), runs just the same as it did on my 512mb x1800 XT, only it looks much better, and runs a helluva lot faster, as on my x1800 outdoors was between 32-43fps, and thats without having the superior ss as they dont have it, the maximum fps on there wasn't even my GTS's minimum. :D

It's awful running only a single 7800gt when i had them in sli on my 939 rig.

i had a amd 3200 at stock (i didnt know how to overclock) with a 7800gtx for a year!..
