I think i'll bite the bullet and order a 8800GT but not sure which to get as theres that many lol

I currently play bf2 and COD4 @ 1440x900 but may upgrade my monitor so could go upto 1680x1050 , so how much AA/AF could i use in these games with a 8800GT ?

should i just buy the cheapest and overclock it alittle ?

maybe a 512MB GTS *** be better for those higher resolutions mate?

8800GT overclocked *** be fine and dandy tho!

Matt.

sweet, well i guess i just gotta decide whether to order one now or wait a week and see if theres any more price drops :D

Look for January sales etc, which will generally start boxing day. All 8800GTs are the same card, so get the cheapest you can and OC it to whatever you can. They can be had for under £160 in some places

Is there any i should be looking at with regard to cooling solutions ? i cba fitting a 3rd party cooler.

The new Jetway GT's apparantly have samsung 1.0ns GDDR3 (instead of Qimonda), which is good for 2200Mhz, maybe the other manufacturers will follow.

just wanted to ask if a 8800GT will run ok on my DS3P motherboard ? not sure is this mobo is pci e 1.1 or 2 or what ever the standards are

8800GT is backwards compatible to PCIe 1.1. Im not sure, so correct me if im wrong, but I belive the GT is the first card to fully support PCIe 2.0 speeds and bandwidth and power, but doesnt actually utilise them to gain any added performance?

well the ocuk GT arrived this morning and just swapped out the 1800XT , ive ran a few benchamrks with a modest 50mhz overclock on the GT and got 12227 with 3dmark06 , is that about right for a E6600 @ 3.2 ?

The GTS is better, especially for its improved cooling etc (and probably improved overclocking potential), and is a bit faster at stock, especially at higher resolution. Whether its worth the £20-50 price difference is up to you.
