Which 8800GTS?

Made the decicion on a 320MB 8800GTS. Looking around the various makes/ overclocks. I have finally decided on this one :

IMO it warrents the extra few £ as core, memory and shader have all been bumped up abit. I no i could buy the cheapest and try it myself, but has any1 bought this. Best 8800GTS 320mb at the mo i feel. what u all think?

IIRC they all clock to about the same, but some have a rev3 core or something?

Overclocking a graphics card is about as hard as counting to 10.

How have you worked that out, their all the same

Personally i think your be wasting your money, buy the BFG OC card or even better the OCuK one, I mean if your willing to spend that much on this card you should fork out the extra and get the 640MB GTS.

in all hounesty any 8800 from bfg is better.
you cant really grumble with a LIFETIME warrenty

I thought the Shader Clock Speed couldent be overclocked manually? Thats why i thought the EVGA was good, as its 1350Ghz already? what are these cards like then, good for OCing? Ive only got a 19" TFT so im not gonna bother with the 640mb one.

i slapped 100mhz on the memory and 100mhz on the core without even pushing the card and it runs smooth as you like with no problems and i know for sure i could push it quite abit further if i tried i guestimate another 100mhz on the mem and another 50 on the core

It can't directly or seperately but increases in proportion to as you increase the core.

Ie increase the core by 10% from 500 to 550 and the shader will increase by 10% as well.

My OcUK branded card (the OcUK ones are XpertVision cards btw) runs 580/1700 just fine.

Think ill go with the cheapest one then! Does the extra 150Mhz on the Shader clock, which you cant OC, really make that much difference?

I did hear because its not in the Nvidia control panel option u cant do it, but they may unlock it in the future correct?

Therefore stick with your final response & just get the OcUK cards & if you feel you need a little more speed, just overclock it.

in the eec you dont get the life time thing,just 10 years

I think when buying a gts go with the 640 the extra memory will definately come into play soon even at the lower resolutions. I don't think 320 meg
will be enough in the near future.

Now I'm confused! I thought everyone keeps saying "buy the 320meg one unless you run a very hi res monitor"?

Question... what's likely to happen in the near future to change this?

Games will be more demanding and nead more memory. a lot of the get the
320 meg posts are towards people who are gonna take the card in the short
term. If this is the same for you then the 320 will be fine but if you want a
card that will last a while then 640 it is. Games are gonna be moving on 320
for me just won't cut it in the near future.
