which 970 ?

A friend is buying a new setup on Monday and he's made his mind up on a 970 , he's just undecided on which one to get .

are they all the same really ? Is it just personal preference on which looks the best or is there a difference in performance ?

I think the OcUk exclusive 'KFA2 Infin8 970' is a great choice. Nice overclock out of the box and a great price. If not that then the 'Gigabyte G1' or the 'MSI'.

They're about the only ones worth looking at I think.

I am also interested in this. I have heard certain models have terrible coil whine, I wonder if anyone could point out the quiet models and the ones to stay away from.

The ACX 970 is probably one of the quietest air cooled card I've had. It ran hot, but the stock profile would top out at 17% speed and run zero fan at idle.

My money, on the above.

Personally the G1 gaming card I had was very cool and quiet.
