ok im looking to 'possibly' upgrade my graphics card but dont really want to spend too much on one and have noticed the 9800 range is slowly being removed :( so should i buy now or carry on using my x1950 untill i really NEED this upgrade?

the 3 im looking at mainly in this list are the;
Zotac GT - for its cheapness
gainwood 1024 mb GT - for its memory
EVGA GTX+ "superclocked" - for its apparent awesomeness :D

or should keep my x1950 for now untill i really need a new card?

so the GTS 250's are good then? its just that none of them had any user feedback, was as if no one would touch them or something :p

another thing i wonder is whats the power usage on the GTS cards... and will my psu (in sig) cope???

EDIT: ok found one feedback and is good :p

Get a bargain GTX260. A lot more performance for not much more money.

It sounds like you don't really need to upgrade, if so then don't. If you have the upgrade bug which we all get from time to time then get the best you can afford, perhaps something with a fair amount of vram.

If OCUK do another GTX 260 for £135 then jump on that, 'cos it's a fair bit faster but if not....

a 4850 or GTS250. Either are very good cards. The GTS250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+ :)

I used to have X1950 pro 256MB, and I finished Crysis on it with Pentium D!
So if you do not game... you don't need upgrade!

I wouldn't upgrade from X1950pro to 9800, at least to GTX216/HD4870

Must have been excruciating, you deserve a bravery award. :D

havn't logged on since last post so after reading through replys i have more questions :)
Would it be good to go for more Vram? (1024 or more)
i kinda want to go for nvidia now after the 'GTA4 scare' :p (later games might be coded with nvidia) so the 250 cards would my upgrade for now BUT yes it is the 'upgrade bug' described by Dr arc@css :D so i might wait untill the 260's or later go down in price
and can anyone post that 'graphic card power usage table' i saw a while back?

If your not desperate, you could wait a few weeks and see how the Radeon 4770 pans out, as it'll be under £100 (official price is $99), be low power and maybe as good as a 4850 in certain games.
