Hi,

Can anyone please advise which raid cards from Adaptec can support drives up to 2TB and above, arrays above 3TB and raid 10.

I have just got a 2410AS and am having problems with it seeing any of my WD-CG 1.5TB drives. I will see if there is a bios update which will fix this.

I have the possibility to use this one for another machine with WD-Black 500GB drives and get an Adaptec 4805 but I have heard rumours that this will not support drives over 2TB.

Adaptec do not seem to advertise the max capacity for individual drives or an array on their cards :(.

Can anyone please advise.

Also, the reason fro using non-motherboard hardware raid or software raid is so I can move the disks and card to a new machine if needed without risking loosing the array and it's data.

Thanks
RB

Ok, the 2410SA is out, found the max drive size is 1TB and max array size is 2TB :(.

Ok that will go in my workstation then.

Still interested to find out any limitations on the 4805.

Thanks
RB

Have you thought about a cheap Dell PERC6?

I'm running 2 of them, both populated with 2TB drives and arrays obviously bigger than 2TB and RAID10 is available on them.
