I built in Dec 23 a PC for my son, who has just started to notice a bit of lag during gaming.
The only thing I can think is CPU throttling. He states that the FPS will not go above 120 anymore.

Spec is:
Asus Prime B550M-A WIFI II,
AMD Ryzen 5 5600 CPU with Wraith Stealth Fan,
Gigabyte Radeon RX 7800XT,
Cooler Master TD500 enclosure
Running Windows 11 Home

Games include.. Fortnite, Rainbow Six, Call of Duty Black Ops, Battlefield, GTA 5 to name a few.
I reached out to Asus but they weren’t very helpful.
All they said in that it needs to be Aura Sync compatible with 3 pin ARGB

I am looking at wanting to spend no more than £180 GBP
I was looking at the ROG STRIX LC III ARGB LCD
I like the look the LCD especially as I can keep an eye on the CPU temperature at least.

Any help would be appreciated
Kind regards

@pastymuncher - Thank you for your advice in regard to the HWInfo program. That is absolutely amazing.. obviously there is so much info on that which I do not understand, but scrolling down and finding the temperatures and the Framerates is what I was looking for.
Funny.. I run the program and then started Fortnite and FPS was just over 300FPS......hmmmm I am thinking someone was hoping for Father Christmas to bring him a PC upgrade hahaha

@Mcnumpty2323 - thank you also for your input.. could you please tell me more about the using an old Android device method.. that sounds like a project I might try in the new year.
