I have assembled the following kit ready for an upgrade:
Asus A8N SLI Premium
2 x XFX 68ooGS gfx cards

I will re use my Corsair ram (2gb) and HDD

I cannot make a descision on which CPU, I have short listed:
Opteron UP150
XP64 4000
XP4200 dual core.

I have read that the Opteron is best for OClocking and that the dual core chips good for gameing, but it all seems contradictory. I dont game a lot, mainly audio and video, any suggestions guys???

If you dont game and wont benafit from multi tasking, then save some money and get a 64bit.

If you then decide to up the usage of the computer the dual core CPU's will have come down in price as currently new technology. You could look at this in 12 months and still save. ;)

I dont think a dual core is worth the extra at the minute, even when games and suchlike are mulit cpu enabled it will still run perfectly well on a single core as thats what most people have.

And Its A64 not XP64, thats an operating system!
