at the moment I'm sticking with 1080p (no idea when I will go higher)

I play at 1080p 144 HZ

I also will link my Quest 2 to the PC

Looking at the OcUK shop (i have vouchers)

I am looking at these 4 CPUs

3600 £178
3700X £270
5600X £320
3800XT £330

Would the 3600 still be capable for a few years ?

tempted to save a bit of money and get the 3600 for now

any other options / Alternatives ?

I would go 3600. I'd recommend the 5600x but for twice the money it's really not worth it. The 3600 will do fine.

3600 will be fine.

Depending upon what motherboard you go for you could always upgrade to a Zen3 in the future for more grunt if needed.

thanks guys

not sure on motherboard yet, heard something about vrm issues (what ever that is)

ill post in the mobo section when I've decided on CPU

This video shows the 3600 is capable enough for most people. I play at 1440P so would be pointless upgrading to a 5600X or higher. Even at 1080P it's not that far behind except in games that use more cores in which cas a 3700x would be better.

3600 is decent.

With the stock boost, whilst gaming. All cores go upto about 3.8Ghz and one core goes to about 4.2Ghz. This is whilst playing cyberpunk 2077, whilst playing the game only uses about 50% CPU usage so it's a very good CPU
