I need some decent running trainers, when i started i was wearing a pair of vans to go to the gym lol, and now im wearing a pair of kswiss that are equally as useless, the consensus is that asics seem to make the best trainers, and they will be mostly used for treadmills...

The two im looking at now are

A highly protective shoe that has a really smooth ride, two Gel units in the heel get the cushioning off to a good start and that then continues through to the forefoot and toe off. The IGS system helps guide your foot without feeling restrictive.

A shoe that has been designed specifically for treadmill use. On a treadmill empirical evidence shows your feet land slightly differently (possibly due to your perception that you are in a more confined area) and your biomechanics are also different as the belt drives itself backwards rather than you pushing off forwards in the same way as with outdoor running. This shoe takes that into account in the way the cushioning and support are set up.

Ive looked for the gel treadmills in meadowhall but they dont have any yet because its such a new shoe, mite have a trip down to decathlon in a bit and see what they say but wondering what everyones opinion is in this area.

Please please go to a dedicated running shop, they will do a gait analysis and reccomend a fair few shoes suited to your running style.

If you are serious about running then this is without a shadow of doubt the 1st step you need to take, to prevent injuries in the short term and long term.

Indeed. Personally, ignore brand, colour and all the marketing department BS. Buy the trainers which are best for your feet.

agree with running shop. They give you a free gait analysis and often dont recommend the most expensive. Its like the opposite of going to a regular fashion sports shop

I totally agree with you - my first pair of runners were yellow mesh, my new pair are grey/silver mesh with dayglo yellow highlights. :)

A good running shop will sell you the best shoes within your price range, and what may seem the best for one person may be the worst for another. My first pair were Asics, now I have a pair of Nikes - both provided the best fit and support for my style and usage.
