In the next couple of days my new Ati 4850 card should arriving to replace my aging x1950Pro. I'm currently using Ati Tray Tools to set up my game profiles, overclocking, fan profiles etc but it's been a long time since I tried the CCC or RivaTuner so I was wondering if there is a general consensus as to which is best? I'm running XP Home edition and I'll mainly be wanting to set up game and fan profiles with maybe some gentle overclocking. In the past I prefered ATT over CCC as it some seemed a bit more intuitive and far less bloated but that was several versions of CCC ago. Has CCC improved in the recent versions and how does RivaTuner compare?

Many Thanks for any advice,

Ross

For my 4870 I use ATI Tray Tools 1.2.8.1260 but there is 1.2.8.1275 out. This is on XP and does my overclocking, profiles and fan control with no problems at all. I'm like you*, I avoid the CCC at all costs.

You can use both at the same time, but I use ATT, only call up CCC when I plug my system in the Plasma via HDMI, because then I can use the over-scan feature. Also it allows you to go past the 700mhz limit if you wanna o/c. And recently it got support to o/c crossfire. Mine run at 725/1100mhz with Zalaman GV1000's.
