Hi all,

Ive herd that the Catalist Control Panel Is a system hog.

Is t best to install the omega drivers then ati tools.

Or just ati display driver then install ati tools?

Thanks

I use the ati drivers myself always got enough performance with those, and i dont see how CCC is a resource hog?

ATI Tray Tool is really excellent, I'd go for the normal driver without CCC and ATTs.

CCC is horrible, it opens about 4-5 processes iirc and takes a decent chunk of memory.

CCC is really hoggy. With omega it's straight into Windows, with CCC takes 20 seconds HD going mental before you can do anything.

I use Omega drivers on the HTPC and gaming (both ATI)

What 20 second mental HD action.

On mine it does with CCC, also delays before can start apps. Just hogs and delays with CCC, little unresponsive. Done a few fresh installs always the same. Omega- bang straight in.

How about normal ati drivers without ccc and ati tray tools... NO omega

Omega is so full of himself

Never had any problems with the Catalyst drivers & CCC when i used to use them. Never had to wait more than 1-2 secs fo it to come up & no HDD action???

Though i have also used the Omega drivers a not had problems with them either.

Yeah - without CCC you have no option for Crossfire.

So Omega/ATT is a no go.

I hate CCC with a passion, as noted its a resource hog and the additional service processes are an annoyance. The boot up flicker and delayed time to load CCC at start up are all an annoyance to me as well.

What I put up with in the name of having X1900GT Crossfire is beyond me... but I have plans to upgrade.

Oh, and as for versions, using the latest 6.11's,they make a tiny improvement to my overall 3dmark scores thanks to the improved software crossfire support.

im hoping 6.12s help all round with software crossfire and the crossfire support for the P5B Deluxe since its a tad buggy atm, i do hope they improve crossfire overall i havnt really been impressed so far :(

6.11 and ATT
I only started using ATT a few days ago and i have noticed the difference. I can get into windows a lot faster and shutdown in about half the time it took with CCC

btw i just have the display drivers and ATT installed is that all i need?

Stuck with 6.10 because no one can be bothered to wright any at the moment to fully support the 1950xt :(
They're writing some as we speak, 6.12 will be out soon. :)

Hopefully with native EATM support too. :D
