Which ATI to go for?

The system you have your eye on, I think is good. However, by the time your going to spend £700 on a new Pc, I think you need to get something which will have some longevity to it.

The i3 is only a dual core cpu. Even though its clocked at 4ghz, I think an I5 or a Phenom Six core would be better price/performance.

The system below I think* is with your budget, with windows 7 and a 5770 it comes in at £730.

have you googled to see if the 5770 is a good cardfor wow?

ok well according to this: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=11824286141&sid=1

The 5770 is good enogh for WOW but its all dependant on ram and cpu.

The system I linked to above has six cores at 3.6ghz which should handle WOW better than the i3 at 4ghz (which is only two cores)

Ideally I would advise an i5. But as your on a tight budget, and I think you need more than two cores, the Phenom II 6 I think should be good.

My understanding from a quite google is: i3 > Phenom6 > i5 > i7

not necesarily

try playing at 1920x1200, everything on ultra, 40 meg of addons, enbseries mod enabled and tweak wow mod set to max.

my 4.3ghz i7 and 5870 really struggle at times in WOW (yet eat everything else).

its such a poorly designed engine :(

Where can I find the enbseries for WoW? it's not on the official site as far as I can see.

Never mind. Found it after a bit of searching. They keep it somewhat hidden - how long have you been using it for? is it safe?

WoW doesn't do quad cores though :(

Still, if the OP can't stretch to it then an i5 760 will be better down the road :)

Is that still the same now post patch 4.0.1? I know it was only dual core capable before that but you would think that with processors going to 4 or 6 cores they would take pain and sort it for the next major patch, 4.0.1 or 4.0.3(cata release)..

I've got an intel [email protected] and it plays WoW well with my Ati 5850, although I'm feeling the need to upgrade soon but I'm not sure if I'll see a benefit.

If everything is still the same as it was pre 4.0.1, I.E. only dual core optomised, and the only game that you play is WoW then I would probably get a Faster dual core CPU than a slower Quad. The only other thing to think about is that Intel and AMD's next new cpu architecture is going to be released early next year so it might be worth waiting.
