First off let me start by saying I have never had any decent AV kit before so I am posting here looking for advice as a complete novice. I want 7.1 in future, and possibly a 4k tv upgrade in a few years. HDMI standby pass through is essential as I dont see the need to have the kit all on while the kids watch peppa pig

Currently looking at both of these:
Pioneer VSX924 or the Yamaha RX-V577
My google'ing seems to tell me that the pioneer is more feature packed, but does not perhaps have the sound quality.
Am I missing any other options in this price range (max £300)
Will drive Wharfedale Dx1's
