Which AV Receiver?

I have around £500 to spend on a new AV Receiver. It will be used for PC gaming mainly with be also I listen to music a fair bit as well.

A 4K compatible receiver would be a good starting point for me as would like the option to use it as part of a home cinema down the line

My current set up includes:

Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card
1x optical cable from Sound Card to AV Receiver (Pioneer VSX-C100)
5x Gale Movie Star Speakers

I have quickly had a look online and found 3 AV Receivers that are in my budget.

Yamaha RXV677
Sony STRDN1050
Onkyo TXNR636

On the face of them all, the Onkyo seems like the best one to choose, but I wanted to make sure before I make my purchase.

Any advice would be appreciated :)

I recommend Yamaha had some unique features and I like the design I have a rxv467. Had it almost 5 year now. Its just prefernce all suggested are good.

The 777 is more in line with the other two suggestions. The newer low profile range from Yamaha are good but expensive. Rxs500 and 600.

If the main use is just going to hooked up to your pc why spend up to £500 , a Yamaha RX377 for £179 will be more then enough and a big improvement from what you currently are using, I don't see the point in spending that much on an amp paired with those speakers to be honest

I did mention that it will be used as part of an home cinema setup and the speaker will be changed, but as I have a small budget, it will take time.

Most amps will not work for 4k as they no support HDCP 2.2 which is the latest copy protection standard....

Read this quote below I copyed from a review on the pioneer VSX-924 AV receiver
Chief amongst these, perhaps, is the employment of HDMI 2.0 connectivity. Pioneer claims the VSX-924 will pass full 4K/60p with 4:4:4 colour sampling, allowing it to potentially form part of a next-gen setup.
However, it doesn't support HDCP 2.2, the latest copy protection standard which could conceivably form part of a 4K BD standard, although Philippe Coppens, Pioneer Europe's product manager, says that any future HDCP 2.2 sources are likely to have dual outputs so the AVR can be bypassed...

Well to be honest I have been looking at getting an OLED TV rather than going for the 4K ones.
Am also looking at buying a OLED TV this year,Am Just waiting to see what 4k ones get released and at what price...

So do you recommend a specific AV Receiver which will serve both my computer and TV needs?
Am guessing your looking for one that has dual zone (zone 2) so it can output different sound from your PC and TV at the same time..

Sorry I can't recommend any to you as I have not listened or used any other AV receivers apart from my own pioneer VSX-922

It doesn't need the Zone 2, I don't intend to run both the Computer and the TV at the same time. Computer only for the next couple of years.
