I've arrived a bit late to the 775 game, having just picked up a new rig built around an e6300. I'm clocked to 2.6 ghz at the moment with the stock cooler and AS5. At idle I'm sitting at ~55 degrees and under load I'm at ~75.

Now I don't mind these temperatures at all but I'm need to get them down so I can keep clocking. In addition to this stock cooler is rediculously loud at 75 degrees.

So far I've been doing everything as cheap as possible, so whatever cooler I decide on will have to be serious bang for buck.

So with all that in mind what cooler would you guys recommend? I've been considering the Arctic Freezee 7 as it's dirt cheap although I'm a bit weary as they're quite old now.

IMO go for something like the Asus Silent Kinght II or the Zalman cnps9 series. i find them better for airflow. maybe others better for overclocking

I've got a Zalman CNPS9 500A with some AS5 and my E8400 is idling at 28. With the stock cooler and paste it was around 50 :O

The Freezer 7 Pro may be getting on a bit now but it's still a decent cooler.

Gurusan had good results with a Xigmatec cooler here. I don't know if it's available in the UK yet though. The OCZ Vendetta ll seems to be quite decent too. High end you are looking at a Tuniq Tower or similar.

Freezer 7 or OCZ Vendetta seem the best options.

Above the cost of those two you're best looking at Thermalrights, Noctuas and the Tuniq Tower. Avoid the Zalmans, they're noisy and not that great.

Why have you created two threads on exactly the same topic? Here

durrr ones about a socket 775 and ones a socket 755!

It's not rocket science, I made a mistake correcting the title resulting in a duplicate thread. Didn't realise until a while after I posted.
