Have you tried either in a shop? I doubt I'd buy a bed "blind" online as I'd want to have a bounce on it first.

A bed is not something you can buy online.

Buy the frame by all means (online), then go and sit/lay on numerous matresses until you find one suitable.

Yep, don't buy a mattress online unless you've tried it, and before you do try and get the store to beat their price (as they quite often will)

Back in 2006/2007 when I was looking for a bed and mattress I found that a certain chain of shops were renaming mattresses to make it harder to price match online. When asked about it, they would claim the manufacturer was making "special" versions just for them.

Not believing a single word they said, I bought the same mattress online for half the price saving about £350.

A bit cheeky to try out something in a shop then buy online but they were really taking the mick.

Not really, **** em, why should you pay more because they want to clear a huge profit?

Lets be fair it's cheeky for them to lie to you so they can make an extra few quid.

Thinking about it more the has been a mattress I did like but most mattresses I've tried all generally feel the same but you guys have changed my mind!

So that being said can anyone recommend a king size 4 drawer Divan? Budget is £300 but the closer to £200 (I'm moving into my own place so I don't have that much money to throw around and would prefer spending more money on the mattress).

£300 for king size?

Nope.

Might get a semi decent double mattress around that. You spend a third of your life in bed man, no chance you could skimp on the other stuff and put more into the bed?

We have an Ikea bed so naturally, got an Ikea mattress, It was around £600 (I think the highest end one they do!) for the 'king size' Swedish equivalent. However, best £600 i've ever spent! :D

Certainly don't skimp on the mattress!

How old are you OP they look like old peoples beds. :p

Get a nice modern looking one but not from Ikea as their matress sizes are all wrong if you ever need to replace it.

This still happens. Recently went to Bnsons for Beds and none of their mattresses are available anywhere else. Did some reseach and one they were selling for £800 with a special name we got online for £400 as we found out it was identical underneath.

Sorry I meant up to £300 for just the base, I can buy the mattress later (although mattress recommendations are good too).

I'd prefer a Divan for the storage but a bedstead is okay if it's got enough space underneath.

A divan! Next thing you'll be drinking bottled water and walking about in shorts, as a wise man once mocked me for hey.....

Have I become that with I once hated? Something I can think about as I breath heavily whilst tapping away!

Anyways what do you think of this frame? Hip enough?

:D
