My google-fu is failing me.

Which logical fallacy/cognitive bias is this?

Person A does X.

Person A therefore assumes that person B should be able to do X too.

That's just an assumption, isn't it?

e: also, an assumption which may be correct as I think you're asking why this is not necessarily so.

Isn't that what toddlers learn? That they are an individual and different individuals know different things.

You'd assume so, but it's shocking how quickly it gets forgotten when it suits.

Let's take an obvious such example:

Person A has worked hard and made lots of money.

Person B is poor.

Person A therefore assumes that if person B worked hard, they would have more money too.

Oh, you mean a Hincapism.

Another example:

Person A has travelled.

Person A assumes that because they were able to travel, person B should be able to too.

More! i like these!

I usually just assume people like this are socially retarded and can't usually emphasise with anything/one.

It's the bias term I'm looking for though.

It's essentially:

I was able to do something so you should be able to do it too.

You're right though, it does stem from both a lack of empathy and a large degree of naivity.

You've used the same word in both examples: assumes.

Is there a reason that you don't think this is the fallacy, or are you asking from a more technical description point of view?

e: looks like you are.

I'm looking for the actual cognitive bias term. :)

EDIT:

I think the psychologist's fallacy may be it, unless there's another term more suited.
