Which big exec for £7k ish?

The hidden cost is astronomical too, as you have to maintain FMBSH which is extortionate on the high end stuff.

I've been looking at those S-Type Rs, never mind my mate, I might get one for myself as a daily drive. Lovely car for the money.

Isnt the S-Type widely regarded as not being particularly great? I wouldnt group one with the rest of this bunch in a million years.

2004 Jaguar XJ 4.2 V8 SE (Are these reliable these days)
2005 Jaguar S-Type R 4.2 V8 Supercharged (OK, oddball car. I know nothing about these apart from epic fuel consumption and epic performance)
2004 Lexus LS430 (Super reliable but with looks only it's mother could love)
2003 Audi A8 4.2 (I had one of these and it broke, a lot)
2003 BMW 745i (Reliability issues with the engine, see Lexus LS430 with regards to looks)
2004 VW Phaeton 3.2 V6 (I love these but I have no idea about reliability)

Im not sure I'd touch any of those cars at that budget.

The Merc warranty is absolutely ridiculously priced - I got quotes for < and > 60k miles for an SL350.

£2500 for under 60k, £5000 for over. Per year!

Jesus H Christ!

I thought a Merc warranty would be pricey but that's absurd!

As i say, plus the huge additional cost of maintaining the FMBSH for the duration. Pretty much every main dealer visit for my SL has resulted in a 4 figure total. A lot of them not with a 1 on the front either.
