Hi Guys;

I was going to get the following bike from Evans;

https://www.evanscycles.com/specialized-crosstrail-hydro-disc-2020-hybrid-bike-EV306284

I got this priced up, and with some extras it came to around £730. (Lights, Helmet, Pedals, Mud Guards, Bottle holder)I am using the Cycle to Work scheme, so not really too fussed what i spend up to that amount.

I then went to a local bike shop and they recommended the Trek Hybrid DS 3, similar price, until Evans just reduced it by 20%.

While looking at this, I also noticed the following was a similar price;

Main reason for the thread.....

I have no idea about bikes, which of those 3 are the best? Or am I missing something a lot better for a similar price?

Budget is up to £730 as that's the voucher I have from the Cycle to Work scheme.

Cheers

Oh, forgot to say, usage, most likely will be used occasionally to ride to work/some weekends, so a mixture of road and canal paths.

I just got the Trek DS2. I love it, good quality, really nice smooth ride and the locking suspension forks are useful. I use it for commuting to work 6 miles each way (80% cycle lanes on tarmac, rest gravel) and i find it really quick, and i've been on a few easy mud trails and it seems to cope fine. I guess it depends on what you want it for.

If it's just road and canal paths at that budget, I'd get something without any suspension at all. You'll get better drivetrain and a lighter bike with better spec.
