Which BIOS revison?

just been on the ASrock site to check my Bios revision... it seems to be saying that the MOBO(FM2A88M extreme4+) requires an earlier version for the APU, A10785KX..,
should I revert to an earlier revision or stick to the latest available BIOS for the MOBO? my BIOS is at rev 2.5 it seems to be suggesting I should have Rev 1.6 loaded?

No i wouldn't downgrade. Usually they only post new features added in release notes and any from a previous bios are included.

What it actually means is that your cpu is supported from that bios version not that you need to run that exact release to support the cpu. Run the latest bios.

If your current BIOS is working with it, why would you need to downgrade anyway?
