right...
i've gone a bit mad on the whole fan side of things and whereas before i had the noctua u12f hsf as it comes and the two case fans that come with the Lian Li PC-7, i now have:
• 2000rpm Sharkoon Silent Eagles case front and case back
• 1600rpm Scythe "F" Series blowing onto the cpu heatsink
• 1200rpm Noctua (the original hs fan) sucking from the heatsink
i havn't yet decided if the noctua fan pulling air from the other side of the heatsink is worth being there yet, just thought i'd give it a try, it might even be detrimental...
anyway... these are all controlled by a fan controller, and the strange thing is, if i whack the two sharkys from min to max, apart from the big increase in sound the motherboard temp (according to everest) drops from 42 to 32 - so they are obviously doing a good job of keeping the inside of the case cool...
BUT, the cpu is unaffected by the power of the case fans, it is now running between 56 and 58 load (@ 1.4825v) which is a good 10 degrees lower than before all the fan mods (so i'm really happy about that) but the cpu runs at that temperature regardless of the case fans...
so i guess i'm asking, is there a bit advantage to haveing the motherboard running at 32 degrees as opposed to 42 cuz if not then theres not really any point me having decent case fans... however if it plays a big part in the stability of the ram or whatever, then i guess its job well done
