Hi I have a Q6600 running at 3.2 on a gigabyte P35 DQ6 with a hd3870 graphics card.

I have recently moved to windows 7 and put the os on a 128GB SSD which made the system much quicker.

I have now bought a copy of photoshop CS6 and want to upgrade my system.

Long term I am looking to get a Core i5-3570K on either a Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H or Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard.

I also want to update the graphics card and am leaning towards the HD7850 but would consider the equivalent Nvidea cards.

Which would give me the best improvement for the initial outlay of around £200?

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 660 OC Twin Frozr 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £167.99
1 x Xigmatek Achilles II SD1284 CPU-Cooler - 120mm (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366 AMD AM2/AM3/FM1) £23.98
Total : £203.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

GPU adds cuda support to help boost your CPU in adobe and for video encoding/editing etc. Added an aftermarket heatsink, just incase you dont have one you could consider OC'ing your CPU to help tide you over till you upgrade the mobo bundle.........note the heatsink can be mounted on top of an i5K

this is what I did ^

I still have my 6300 C2D from 2007 but have upgraded my gfx card twice and it's now a 6950. I've overclocked the processor only recently from 1.83 to just short of 2.9ghz and the system is running really nicely.

I intend to upgrade the mobo and processor early next year to an i5.

I currently have a tuniq tower cooler on it with a better fan so stays nice and cool. I am currently stable at 3.2 GHz but am not surehow much futher I could push the CPU.

Your graphics card is the weakest component in your system, upgrade that first. Then sit back and wait for Haswell to arrive.
