Which Blackberry?

I currently have a HD2 and would like to go for a blackberry. I basically have no need for the additional features provided by the hd2, and only really need to be able to make calls, check email, and respond to emails and texts easily. Built-in GPS would also be useful, as I've heard you can get free satnav with the blackberry. Is this any good?

I'll be buying the blackberry sim free, and don't really wish to spend over £150. Which blackberry would you recommend?

First of all free sat nav doesnt come with the phone...most Blackberries have built in GPS but you would have to buy the sat nav software although im pretty sure there are free versions but i havent used them so cannot comment on them.

For £150 your not going to get a lot...id stay away from the 8520 as that does not have a built in GPS...if you can get hold of one, id recommend the 8900 curve but thats pretty old now...or the 9300 curve but you might have to increase your budget a bit to get one of those...excellent handset the 9300 along with the 8900 as well and both have built in GPS's...just dont buy the 8520 unless you dont need the built in GPS.

Cheers for the advice Spawn. I've heard good things about the 8900 previously, but was put off as it's fairly old now, as you also mentioned. Will have a look into the 9300 curve.

I would imagine the sat nav is awful on the little screens? Dont skimp and get a Torch or something.

Unless you mainly want the audio assistance then you'll be fine.

The 8900 is a good little handset...a lot of my friends have one and its pretty decent....the 9300 is also a good little handset too...only difference between the 2 is that the 9300 has 3G and an optical trackpad whereas the 8900 is non 3G and has the trackball instead of the trackpad.

Torch isnt all that...i had mine for nearly 6mths and although i liked it a lot...the novelty soon rubbed off on me...which is why i sold it and got the 9780 instead.

To be perfectly honest...i wouldnt think about using a phone as a sat nav device even if its the iphone4 or any of the big screen Androids out on the market....id rather get a standalone sat nav if i ever needed one.

But for £150??...good luck in getting a torch lol...unless its a stolen one or broken one...i sold mine a few weeks back for £350 and that was after 6mths of use;).

Don't be put off by the age of the 8900 it's a cracking phone & the only reason I got rid was because I'm old & my eyes are crap now so I needed a bigger screen, If it wasn't for that 1 thing I'd still have my 8900, You'll get a Mint one for your money & there are refurb kits including front/back case inside back piece, keyboard & trackball & untold info available online.
