Which Board?

Been contemplating upgrading my PC for a while now. I want to upgrade my CPU, which in my case I think will mean a new MOBO also. So could anyone suggest a MOBO that would be compatible with my current specs (in sig).

I guess really its the memory that could be a problem with compatibility. Compatibility with DDR3 memory would be handy also.

Had a quick scour on the other topics, is it correct the Q6600 still seems to be the best chip to go for value/performance and longevity? OEM and retial, one comes with a fan right? Any suggestions for a cpu fan/cooler?

Same answer as always really and depends whether you plan to overclock or not.

1. You've not said your current mobo so you may not need to upgrade.
2. No point going for ddr3 memory now IMO. It is expensive and slower than goo ddr2 memory which you have already.
3. Abit IP35 pro is a good board for overcloking and currently excellent value for money. The Asus p35 boards are all good as well and just really vary in what extras you get with them like wifi etc.
4. Q6600 may be better in the long run if you encode a lot or more games start taking full use of all 4 cores (currently only 2 games AFIK do atm) otherwise the E8*** is currently fastest in games and the E7200 gives massive bang for buck overclocked (a £70 ish chip which with good cooling runs at 3.8Ghz to 4Ghz)
5 Boards that take both ddr2 and ddr2 memory won't overclock as well as a board which only takes one type.
6. True coolers are the best air coolers but come at a price. Tuniq also very good. If not planning a major overclock then an Artic cooler is sufficient and still a good improvement over stock cooler.

Hope that all helps. You can see from my sig which way I decided to go ;)

Board is in my sig..Intel Bad Axe 975X..Not very versatile from what I learned..It was originally a OC complete system..Overclocking, well I'm not done any before. If its easy to overclock I will overclock..Massive performance isnt a must, but I guess the quad cores makes multi tasking better?? And somehting for the future..Everyone well most seem to have gone quad..

Whats all these P31/38,X31/38? What the difference?

Bit more info, I have 2X150gb atm which I run in raid 0..I probably dont need SLI, even though I like to plan for all eventualities..
