It's probably personal preference, but which brands are considered better for the gtx 780 & which would you avoid! [or not specifically the 780 but in general also]

MSI
EVGA
PALIT
KFA2
GIGABYTE
GAINWARD
ASUS
INNO3D

Depends, if I was to purchase an overclocked one, EVGA/ASUS/Gigabyte probably. If it's reference then whoever has the best warranty, which is normally EVGA.

Although Gainward and MSI make some awesome looking models.

I usually head straight for either MSI, EVGA, KFA2 and Gigabyte. However, if the retailer handles the first X number of months for other brands like HIS for example, then I would still consider them as well - but they wouldn't be my first choice despite making some great products (yes, Asus, I'm looking at you).

How realistic is that though? For example according to the chart, its impossible to RMA powercolor cards, but I'm sure plenty of people have had them replaced whether it be through powercolor or retailer without having to send anything to Taiwan.

For reference 780's I'd either get an evga because of their warranty policies, or palit for normally being the cheapest. It really doesn't matter though which one you get. Also lets not forget Inno3d for the beastly herculez 3000 version http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/4460/inno3d-ichill-geforce-gtx-780-review-almost-a-titan!

I'd say it's fairly realistic as it's been compiled with the benefit of the experience of end users.

All retailers should be providing support within the first 12 months at least, OcUK will go further than that.

If the retailer has to obtain an RMA replacement/repair from the manufacturer you'd be pretty much in the situation explained in the thread.

As you can see from the provided information it may well be quicker/easier to RMA directly with certain manufacturers.

what a juicy card, inno3d though, not seen much about that brand, are they reputable, are there coolers good?

nice chart also surveyor
Omg, whoever wrote that chart is just absolutely amazing! :o

I would go for Gigabyte, or EVGA for good warranty, plus the custom coolers work very well - I'll be posting my results by tomorrow, had my card two days now, but been messing about with a new BIOS for my MSI Z77 MPower.

Note - OcUK now handle RMA for Gainward for the entire duration i.e. 2 years, turnaround time has been mentioned at 2 days >> Link

Warranty

is this chart still up to date, as i am now also needing a new GCARD, [using mobo HDMI :( ]

Can't decide between EVGA / MSI / GIGABYTE.
Will be getting the gtx 780.

Thanks
