Hi All,

not sure if this is the right place to post this so if im wrong - sorry!!

I'm currently looking for a broadband provider as i have had to move out my flat.

at the flat i was using ntl which was good but its cable and i have an adsl router at my mum and dads.

i used to be with Plus Net but I found their security awful. (someone hacked into my account so i couldnt use net and when you call they dont ask security questions! i said i forgot my password so they just told it to me!!)

a guy at work has reccommended a small company to me but it is £19.99 + VAT. its secure and sounds good but if there is a provider out there that is just as good but charge less then i will go with them

however, i dont want blueyonder, bt, wanadoo or aol. used them before and they are rubbish!

does anyone have any suggestions?

i mainly use internet for surfing, e-mails and the odd download.

any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

You know, do you want to download the internet? 2GB, 10GB, 50GB?

Local Loop Unbundling, about your only hope for an unlimited service. Samknows should give some indication of what's available.

Depends what you're expecting from it. If you're after an unlimited service, dream on. If it's for a service with a sensible cap (probably about 10GB/month at that price), then it seems reasonable.

the price is for unlimited but i had unlimited before and i dont think i really needed it thats why i have mentioned what i would use it for so that someone could help advise me as to what i would need so that i can find the best provider to suit my needs

£20 ex VAT?
Wouldn't touch them with a big stick.

Find out how much you use, then you're getting there.

£20 PLUS VAT making it around £24 but its custom access and using the adslguide they dint actually come out that good compared to others

how would i find out my usage?

Which makes it ex VAT...

Not surprising.

Install something like DUMeter?

hmmmm how would i do that? im a complete n00b when it comes to things like this!

most evenings i come online around 5.45pm/6pm and just either check e-mails or go on OcUK for a couple of hours. otherwise i might just listen to music which doesnt use the internet. at the weekends i probably go on a couple of hours and download the odd thing but thats it really

just a quick question to anyone, on one of the broadband providers that i have been looking at it says you dont get a fixed IP address and that it changes everytime you connect

is this good or bad?
