A family member is struggling with a 10yr+ old desktop (running Vista!) and so I'm looking to get him dragged into the 21st century with a fairly up to date laptop running Windows 10.

Is there a generally regarded "best bang for buck" laptop with a budget of £300-£350?

I've had a bit of a look round and you seem to be able to get an i3-6006U or an AMD A6-7310 CPU with 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive (or 256GB SSD if you wanted to spend a little more!) for around £300 - are these fairly decent machines these days??

The use is very basic, e-mails, bit of browsing etc - no gaming or video processing!

Thanks for any suggestions....

Anything with an SSD. Will make the biggest difference at that price range. A Samsung 850 EVO utterly transformed my 6yr old i5-2410M laptop.

For that budget even with some of the skylakes about and being able to get the odd laptop with a dedicated gpu(not gaming types), an APU quad is probably a better option in terms of new? A 1tb hdd will be quick, but if you can get an ssd then do so, just make sure it's more than 120gb.
