im thinking of getting another dual core instead of quad core, because I dont think i really need quad, and if i get a 9x multiplier i can run 9x399 instead of my current 7x399, with no stability problems.

4x9 = 36, 4x7 = 28, so 800mhz more, and 2mb more cache!

So shall i just wait till september and pick up a second hand e6600 for £100 ish, or is anything cheaper with 4mbit of cache and 9x multiplier that overclocks well ?

I have a TT120 but i want passive watercooling eventually.

Not worth it tbh, you have a very decent clock (your sig says 3.2Ghz 480FSB?) and as said, not every E6600 can do 3.6Ghz like you anticipated. You're better off wait for the price cut and get a quad Q6600 instead.
