Following my last thread, decided i would repalce the Netgear WGR614 with something new.

Budget less than £50.

Requirements:

Coverage throughout whole house (concrete walls all around).

What would you recommend then?

Can increase IF needed.

TIA

Sorry for new thread.

Which you think is best? Can up to £60-70 MAX.

Wanting as much coverage as possible and speed.

If it helps we're on Virgin Broadband 20MB now too.

Edit: Mp4 i have the WGR614.

My bad , cant really go wrong with any Netgear makes its all i've ever used to cant comment on other brands.

Also i dont know if you will get a maximum bandwidth through the wireless either e.g. since you have 25MB Cable , say you get a 300MB router i dont know if it will limit that to your connection speed. (if someone can fill me in on that would be good)

If you wanted something uber its going to cost in the £100 mark by the looks of it via ocuk router link i spammed.

Speed is based on internal networks speeds and has nothing to do with the gateway speeds. So theoretically two PC's in range of the Wifi with recommended cards and full signal should be able to network at 300mb.

WRT54GL and a 3rd party firmware, you can boost the wireless signal considerably through software. I still say you are best off running netstumbler first but that's up to you.

Tried that.

What is the best recommended Router? Looked at the above & WRT54GS, Netgear WGT624, Netgear KWGR614, Netgear KWGR614.

The GL will wipe the floor with anything in that price range appart from it's 54g wifi performance will be 54g but if you have hardware that will support it afterburner can be enabled.

Whats the range like on the WRT54GL with a house with all concrete walls?

You recommend this one?

the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 has an built in amplifier which give you a 60% increase in wireless transmission. it also can use the custom dd-wrt firmware.

Which should i go for, for maximum coverage & speed?

Router will stay downstairs, while laptops outside/upstairs.
