Hello, I have a couple of computers sharing an Internet connection using a switch. I want to be able to transfer files from my laptop to one of the computers. I know I can do this by plugging the laptop into the switch and setting up a network. I just wasn't sure if I'm supposed to use a crossover cable or a regular cat6 network one. Or does it not matter?

If you're connecting via a switch you'll just need a normal Cat5e or Cat6 cable (no advantage to using Cat6).

If you're connecting them directly you might need a crossover cable, but anything reasonably modern will sort things out for itself.

Best way to share an internet connection is using a router..

Phone line / virgin box > router > pc's

I'd just use cat5e cables

Yep cat5, v commonly available.

Mine, phone line/ box > pc
Tried a switch but retired it seems to be a monentary latency lag but may be psychological...for normal use unnoticeable, I run live data so 1/10 sec is noticeable but it is prob in the realms if any of 10ms or less ...
