Which card do I upgrade to?

I was going to get the card mainly for BF4 but due to the problems it's faced recently I'm a bit off put it however I am playing games like Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3 etc at the moment. Is the 290 still the best one?

Yes, yes and yes, Get a MSI Gaming edition 290.
 
More shaders on the 290x pretty much just that. 290 is arguably the best power per pound spent right now Tom, I would just buy a 290 and forget the premium X version
 
You've got as much chance of getting a 290 card that black screens as you have of getting a Nvidia card that has coil whine or is DOA. Grab a MSI 290 Gaming edition. 8Pack broke world records with them, they must be pretty good, eh?

I've just done a Google and it seems like lots of people are getting the 'black screen' issues with 290. It's a lot of money to spend on something with the risk it could be defective and then there's the hassle of getting it RMA'd.

I just did a google and apparently i've got 6 life threatening diseases. :eek:
 
But seriously though, it seems like a lot of cards are affected and it's something to do with the type of memory the card uses?

I really don't know what to do now! Should I go for the Nvidia?

No time to answer,I'm going into quarantine. Google says the zombies are coming!

Seriously don't be put off by google. If you google 780 black screen you will find a ton of issues. How many of those issues affect an every day 780 user? A small amount. If you google 'Greg caught naked in gay bar' or 'LtMatt proud owner of over sized genitals' a lot of results will come up. Doesn't mean they're all true. However in this case, both the rumours are true...

Yeah I suppose so but isn't there a certain model 290 that would be guaranteed not to have black screen issues? I wouldn't mind paying extra.
