I'll be ordering new i7 build tonight and going to get Samsung 2433BW as well so i'm just wondering if 4890 will run on this monitor with everything max?

I'm looking at GTX275 as well or better with GTX 260 SLI? And which card gives good value for the money?

I will be using UD5 board.

Many thanks

Anything from a GTX260/HD4870 upwards will deal competently with 1920x1200. If you want to shovel on the AA and AF, and by that I mean stupidly high, you will need the SLi setup, but if you're sensible about your expectations a single card will be fine.

there all very good cards and can handle 1920x1200 quite easily, but if i was choose it would defiantly be 260 sli :)

but with sli you get more heat and a more power hungry machine, so you will be alright if you have a decent case and dont care about the few more odd pence on electric bill :)

4870/GTX260 will run most games maxed out on 1900x1200 (not inc crysis). If you want to play crysis then get better then that, but it's not cheap :p

I havent found anything that doesnt run well max'd on my 4870(1900,1200), but then again i dont play crysis :p

if you have a 4870 already, stick to that.

no one game is worth upgrading for, especially crysis

No, i sold 4870 1gb along with my machine and that's the reason i upgrade to i7 :D

I'm using Fortress case so hopefully if i want SLI or Crossfire should be ok :)

I can run COD 5 with all max with 4870 1gb and 22" and get around 95 FPS. But never had 24" before and hoping to get around the same FPS with my new setup.

If 4890 1gb / GTX 275 can run fine on 24" then i might just get 1 card just now to keep the cost down.

Now, which one should i go 4870 1GB or GTX 275, hm..... :D

lol nvidia always win on reviews and with people on here who have tried both

still never understood why a lot of people still make out ati cards to be best though  :D

I used to be Nvidia fan boy until 4870 came out and went for ATI and it was an excellent card. But i think i might get GTX 275 now :)

Truth.

Crysis is a glorified benchmark lol. Its a game with the right mods that could be very good (aka remove the SPOILER spaceship section SPOILER) but the game is pretty basic outside of graphics.

Do we really have to have YET ANOTHER fanboy debate over graphics card manufacturers?

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy - I buy whatever is cheaper for decent performance at the time. My previous cards were mostly Nvidia..my current one ATI..my next one could well be Matrox for all I care, as long as it's the best price for the performance.

Nah, wasn't raging against you, was meaning the subject of the rolleyes :)

And I totally agree.....I buy what runs well.

I just upgraded from a 4850 to a 216 260GTX and the difference is quite apparent at 1920x1200. In fact, I'd say the 260 is a step up from a 4870 as well, especially if you overclock it.

Sorry if this thread turn into fanboy debate :(

I just don't want to buy the wrong card and would like to know from 24" user which card that gives better value for money from my choice
