right i have a pretty good setup for basic day to day tasks but i really want to play F.E.A.R at half decent FPS
my current setup is:
LGA775 P4 3.2 (one of the early ones)
Abit AS8 with AGP so has to be AGP card :(
2Gb Corsair XMS DC
3ware raid 0 using 2 160Gb Maxtors SATA1
and other stuff which shouldnt matter
my current card is a really old FX5600 Ultra and whilst its capable of lowly frame rates in HL2 and Counterstrike (2 of my most played games) i want to upgrade!!!!
im also building a 5th pc as i have a home network which will consist of 950 Dual Core Intel and Asus P5WDE2 Premium which i have already but id like advice on a decent AGP card for this existing PC :D

i was thinking about the Gainward 6800GS 512Mb card ? and ideas or advice is muchly appreciated

agp? :p

personnally i'd go for a bfg 6800gs 25mb, this week only 135.07. :)

i don't think the gainward 512mb variant is worth the 47 notes extra. or if you want to spend a little more, go for the xfx 7800gs @205. :D

You're completely correct, 512Mb isn't going to help much on a 6800GS, and the 7800GS is better value in that price range.
