Which card to get for ~£200?

The MSI is a good card when you get one working.

Now I have 2 working cards but took me 6 cards to get 2 perfect ones hehe
2 were DOA, 1 was artifacting and 1 the bios switch was lose/broken (but the card was working)

Now I have 2 in Crossfire and I can run them at 1100/1500 without problems,
I prefer the MSI over the HIS, beacuse the MSI uses Hynix memories and HIS uses Elpida memories that are a little bit slower and usually overclock less.

The TFIII fan is a screamer in comparison to the Ice-Q matt, it's a seriously loud cooler indeed.

Furry muff, i would have thought it would be tolerable up to 60% based on my 6950 twin frozr ii's.

+1 That's the one downside to the HIS cards, memory ain't as good. Although i have one which appears to go up to 1700-1750 which isn't too bad. Not fully tested the other one yet.

You tried both together?

Didn't matter if the TFIII was top or bottom in CrossFire with the Ice-Q or on its own, it was seriously noisey.

what I am saying is that the ice-q is more quiet, but not by much.

now I have 2 TFIII and I can say they are ok and not much more noisey than the ice-q, only if you push the fans over 70%.

And both my TFIII cards run under 70C around 60% fan.

I tried 2x HIS reference VS 2x MSI TFIII VS 2x HIS Ice-q

Iv'e used various 79's(in order of quietest first) AC Extremes, Ice-Q's, TFIII/Wind Force, DD, and 1 reference.

Maybe it was the pitch/tone of them that didn't agree with my ears, everyone's different I suppose.

My case have a really good air flow, so this might help the MSIs to stay quiet

4x120 Apache intake, 3X120 Piranha exhaust controlled with a Nesteq Fanmax.

But, you are obviously more than happy with your choice, which is the main thing!:)

I've received and installed the HIS Boost version. Very happy with the noise (or lack of), almost silent in comparison to my last card. Thanks for the advice.

I haven't had a chance to try any demanding games yet but will see how it does under load, and also look at overclocking soon.
