Hi everyone.

I'm looking to buy a new card, my old ones failing to say the least, freezing up, crashing games and my computer to a standstill, so I'm thinking of getting a significantly upgradeed one if the company don't repace my current one- as its still under warrenty.

I use the computer for mostly gaming, at 1680x1050, I play Crysis Warhead, Dirt, Paradise City, Batltlefield 2 and COD4 and 6.

I've been thinking of getting a 4890 or a 5770, although I'm not to sure whether to get a 5850 - if anyone has one in stock. I'd rather spend as little as possible, but I want the best card that can play crysis at that res on full settings.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

what card do you currently use? can your mobo support sli/crossfire? As you said a 5850 is a good card but stock and price are erratic, crossfired 5770 are a cheap and good setup and a lot of people are going that way at the minute.

Are you totally sure the freezing / crashing is caused by the graphics card? It sounds equally likely it could be power supply or driver problems.

If you want a new card right away then your choices are limited. If you're not bothered about DX11 then the 4890 is a good choice, especially with the OCUK value cards coming in at £120 next week.

Indeed, there is no point in getting a new GPU if you are sure that it is your card that is creating these problems... At least check for the updated drivers before spending your cash...

But if i was you because of the lack of stock of the 5850, i would got for xfire 5870's...

I'm sure that its the Graphics card that's doing it, I've tested everything and eliminated everything else. So much so that I've put in another card to make sure that its the problem, using the latest drivers on my old card (4650) and the one that's in currently the x550.

My Mobo is an Asus P6T with a core i7 920 D0, it supports crossfire and sli. I'm leaning towards the 5770, whats the best brand of that card to get?
