Which card upgrade?

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my 8800GTS 320mb, it's starting to show it's age at higher resolutions. I want something I can use at 1920 x 1080, with a 580w PSU, in an Antec 300. I'm looking for something in the £200 range.
I'm a graphics whore and I like my setting on max, sometimes I won't run a game if I can't. Got a copy of Stalker Clear Sky and Arma 2 that I'd like to run on full.

Also trying to decide on a new processor. Will I see any major difference between the 3.2 and 3.4 quad core phenom II's?

I'd say an ATI 5850 (just over £200) would be worth a look

Yea 5850 would seem to be the logical choice for that price range, or if you don't mind not having DirectX 11 and want to save a bit of cash, you could go for 4890...or even wait for 5830 like some people do (5830 will be DirectX 11 too).

As for CPU, I think it'd best that you make another post under the CPU forum...that way you would get more advise. From my understanding though, the extra 200Mhz for gaming would only give a couple more fps in game, and sometimes non at all. If you already got a fast graphic cards like 5850, the chances are you wouldn't notice much different in games...

But like I said, try asking in the CPU forum.

I wouldn't say you'd see much between the two speeds, maybe a few milliseconds, but nothing for general usage.
