Hello Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls.

Recently got myself a new build, going to be attaining the graphics card at the end of this month, it is an AMD Trinity build, so it tided me over for a little while and plays games quite reasonably but now I have some more money to invest into it.

The spec is as follows :

AMD A10-5800K 3.8Ghz
8GB Ram
500GB WD HDD
XFX Pro 450W PSU

I am looking at getting perhaps a 7850 to go alongside the existing hardware and am pretty sure that the PSU should be enough as the 7850 hasn't got a massive TPD.

On the other hand, a 7870 looks quite attractive, but I am not sure if I have the power for it.

Would rather not get a new PSU, as if my other half see's me getting rid of a bit of gear I only just purchased, dinner will be in my face.

Am getting a new full sized case this month too, so size should not be a problem. I need not OC it, but I may in the future, but I may have a higher PSU by then anyway.

Thanks for any advice.

Thank you gents. Will have to see how much I have left to play with come payday.

Is it worth the extra for the 7870 or is a 7850 the way to go? As long as I can play most of the newest games at high detail I am a happy man.

It honestly depends if you want to overclock and if so want to play the silicone lottery...

You should be able to clock a 7850 to 7870 levels pretty easily, on the other hand you could probably take a 7870 to near 7950 levels.

You won't be disappointed with either card tbh.
