Which card?

After I thought I'd decided on a 3870 someone else says a GT is much better. I can't decide myself so.. which card?

Budget: £160 roughly, I'm willing to spend more if its worth it

The resolution the card can give good fps at is important since I'm using 1920x1200, not planning on playing Crysis on full so that doesn't bother me but I'd like COD4 and similar games to give decent fps.

Thanks,

Agree with the above, get a 512Mb GTS though if you can afford it, they're cheaper faster and run a bit cooler than the GTX's.

Also if you don't mind paying the extra money, try getting a BFG. They come pre-overclocked and are very reliable (at least from my experience).. And if you do need customer support, I've been told they offer very good support :).

well it goes like this

8800GTX>8800GTS(512)>8800GT>3870>3850

That is the general trend with higher resolutions

Oh and happy 200th post to me! :p

TBH,

From these benchmarks on tomshardware, there isn't a huge difference between the cards at that resolution, it tends to vary from game to game. In some benchmarks its faster, equal or 5-10fps slower. I think the GTX has the slight edge, but I wouldn't say theirs much in it at all. Oh and congrats ;). Might take me another 5 years to get my 200th LOL :).

if you dont want to soend a lot and still have a good card go and pick up either the HD3850 PRO 512 or HD3870XT, the PRO is better value for money though.
