Might be worth looking here, comparisons of 4830, 4850 and 9800gt, seems like it depends on what games you play and what your wallet can stretch to.

Typically, it is 10% slower than the 4850, but 20% cheaper.

I've just bought one and will take delivery soon. I was tempted with the 4850, but the maths don't add up (they never do with computer products, let's face it - you spend 50% more on stuff for a 20% performance increase).

Disclaimer - I'm an old school overclocker going for bang-for-buck - the 4830 is going to be volt-modded and watercooled. I suspect it will beat every 4850 on these boards when done, and even some 4870's :D
