hi im making a new build, Im not an extreme gamer but would like a decent graphics card, i have been recomended The HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail, what is the Nvidia equivalent of this, and has anyone got any other suggestions?

a 4850 would be the best bet for you. the closet thing to the price range from nvidia would be a 9800gt which is ok but you get more for your money than buying a 9800. try and avoid the his brand. ive read a few threads on here and a lot of people have issues with them :~

at1106, I doubt you'll need a soundcard anyway -there should be one on the motherboard. :)

The two cards will perform about the same, I'd go for the HIS because it has a better cooler

The Dolby 5.1 is for when your watching HD movies through the HDMI, just means that if you use the Supplied ATi adapter, then you also get the sound through it as well.

You still need a soundcard/onboard sound for games etc....

The HIS is a cracking card, fantastic coolers those. :)

Powercolour PCS+ 4850. I recently bought the 512mb version since i only play on 1440x900 resolution and this card maxes out everything at very high fps. It's really quiet, really cool and the manual&Auto fan controls are awsome. The catalyst center aa options really make your desktop look amazing quality. The card runs 47c max when I have it on 100% fan, the noise is only slightly audiable over my silent case fans.

I recommend it dude :)
