which card?

hi all,

new to the forum so be nice!!

I'm looking to upgrade my gfx card, but not sure which to get..

either the Sapphire 4870 which is on offer here this week, or a gtx 260 (I have always had nvidia in the past)

I am playing a lot of GTA4 at the minute, and i am unsure which one would perform better.

Rest of spec is:
Q6600
asus P5N32-E SLI mobo
4gb Geil ram
and currently.. a POV 8800gts 320mb

any help would be appreciated!

4870 is currently better value. The 260 and 4870 both trade blows in different games, the 1GB being the generally stronger of the 4870s although not by much, but the extra memory helps for GTA4 or at high resolutions. With the current price difference the 4870 makes more sense.

I would go for the Sapphire 4870 but the GTX 260 will perform much better in GTA4.

Nope it's just a game that nvidia cards do better in.

thanks for the help guys! went for the ocuk value gtx 260 in the end as i wanted both the games in the bundle. does anyone know whether the games come as retail packaged, or do i have to download them from somewhere?
