A 5870 would do you fine depending on what resolution you would want to run and what the rest of your system is like.

I would recommend paying the few extra pennies however and going for the Asus branded card, thus allowing you to overclock if you so wished and extend it's performance. Will be interested to hear what you go for.

My system is...
Phenom II x4 955, Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 890GX
OCZ Reaper 4Gb 1600MHz ram, Akasa Venom Cpu cooler
Antec 1200, Samsung F3 500Gb.

Will be running at 1920 x 1080 on main monitor. Also have my old monitor as a duel screen setup but dont use it for much. Watching the occational tv show while gaming or doing uni work.

Ive been looking at the specs of nvidia cards and for the money they seem to be miles below the ati cards? dunno if im missing something tho?

Cheers :D

depends which specs ur looking at and how ur comparing them tbh.

id say that the MSi GTX480 is worth it for the extra £50

Also, not to forget the Mafia II game (worth £30) that comes along with the GTX480.

5870 is a decent card, but at £290 it is overpriced. GTX480 would only cost £320 (if you take away the Mafia II game's £30 worth from the selling price of £350).

I wouldn't base a graphics card purchase on an average game bundled with it, not to say the gtx480 is not a fine card.

To the OP what psu do you have?

A voucher for Mafia 2 is worth no more than £20, it adds value to the card even then.

OP, you have a crossfire ready board, I would go for a 5850 personally, overclock it and sell it as soon as the new 6000 series come out. You won't lose much this way and the upgrade will be worthwhile.
