Sheer curiosity, was having a conversation with mates last night over a few beers, planning a trackday in the not too distant future in Spain. Been a while for myself, but tracked a number of cars in the past.

So...out of interest, what Cars/bikes have you driven on a track day? Has to be cars you've driven, not passengered. Would be interesting to know roughly how long/laps you drove it for, and a quick one-liner (no more for the lulz) on your opinion on it, i'll start:

Jerez F1 (Jerez, Spain) BMW invitation, about 7-8 years ago:

BMW Z3m cabrio - Lovely. loved to get it's rear end out at most opportunities. Around 5 laps worth.
BMW e46 328 - Cant remember much, I did spin it though ;), 3 laps iirc.
BMW e39 530d estate - A right laugh, far too heavy for a track. Drove it for ages as nobody wanted to. Easily 6-7 laps.

Guadix, (Granada, Spain) - 3 Visits.

Nissan 350z - Tons of grunt, bit too much weight. Lovely sound. 5 laps.
Lancia Delta Integrale - Just a couple of laps, some turbo hose pipe let go during my last lap. Huge sense of occasion, helped by martini livery - 2 laps
Honda Civic 1.5ls - Awful handling due to some huge rims. Pointless. - 3 laps
VW Passat 1.8 (non turbo) - A green boat. - 3 laps
Renault Clio 172 - tremendous, nearly smacked into another car - 2 laps
Honda Civic Type-R - Excellent on the limit, lots of controllable LOOS - 15+ laps.
Some Corsa with 2.0 engine - Heheheheeheheheh Awful - 1 lap.
Fiat Panda 4x4 (new) - Surprisingly good. Almost excellent - 2 laps.

Campillos (Ronda, Spain - Small Karting circut) - Numerous Visits

Nissan Skyline GTS-T (iirc?) - Some single turbo variant, lots of boost, lots of custom dials, bit dissapointing - 5 laps
Civic Type-R (again) - Very well suited to the tight track, easily 2 hours of tracking.
Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 - Had a 1.6 gearbox and rollcage, stripped out, probably most fun car ive driven on track - approx 10 laps
Porsche 911 (993, Carrera 2) - Bit of a dream of mine, lovely. Didn't have enough time/experience to adjust to weight distribution - 3 laps.
Seat Leon 1.8T FR - Sure-footed, but a tad clumbersome in terms of inputs - easily an hour on track.
Golf GTi 1.8 (non turbo) - See above, but slow...
Merc SL500 - Totally unsuitable for the circuit, which made it a hoot. - 5 laps.

Ascari Race Resort (Marbella/Ronda, Spain)

Civic Type-R - Oh I could have gone on all day, except... (about an hour)
Integra Type-R - ...I kept driving this for comparison. Just as fast, tad more fun (5-6 laps)
Accord 2.4 Type-S - Surprisingly tidy, but too wallowy.
Mk4 Golf R32 - Clumbersome, but no denying tons of grip - 2 laps
Mitsu Evo 7 (or was it 8?) - Huge bhp, very sorted, very fun - 2 laps
Mazda Mx-5 1.6 - Great fun, needed more poke on this particular circuit - 1 lap

None of those sound like "track days" to me, they all sound like experience days.

Surely by definition of a "track day" it is a whole DAY where you take your own car to a circuit with likeminded individuals. So on that note:

Donington, full day, 50+ laps, Citroen Saxo VTR
Donington, almost* full day, 45+ laps, Leon Cupra R

*should have been a full day, but... you know the story.

Mine looks rubbish compared to that list lol.

Single seater 1600cc - Experience day
Golf GTI - Experience day
Civic 1.3 DX - Cadwell full day open pit lane
Civic 1.6 VTi - Cadwell full day open pit lane
Integra Si - Bedford, Mallory, Rockingham full days, open pit lane.

ST220 on Donington
ST220 on the Nurburgring
Vauxhall Zafira 2.0DTi on the Nurburgring
Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi on the Nurburgring

Pax laps many other tracks and VX track days but they werent my cars

MG ZR
VX220
VX220 turbo

Porsche Cayman S
Porsche 966 GT3
TVR Tuscan S
TVR T350 Redrose

Only the BMW Day was an experience day actually.

Rest of the times ive gone to Ascari/Guadix/Campillos have been with a local car enthusiast group renting the track(s) for a day, members from both Gibraltar and Spain. Hence the rather varied selection of cars, most members know each other and dont mind lending out a car for a few laps with them as passenger.

Helps that the track organizers give organized groups pretty free reign to known groups/repeat track bookings. Im roughly totting up what I drove in my car too. Add it up, take into consideration pee breaks/letting cars cool down/watching cars on track, I cant remember a proper track day when I wasnt driving my car or a friends. Some people wont share their cars for obvious reasons (im looking at the guy with the F360 who regularly attends...I have tried :) )

Only done one track day, which was my honda vfr400 race bike around Lydden Hill last year,

I was bunged in the intermediate group (after doing 7 race weekends, but crucially no trackdays it seemed ¬_¬), and only did 2 sessions (of 5) as I got annoyed at spending the entire session overtaking slow people, probably didn't help that Lydden is tiny, but dunno if I'd bother with any more bike track days.

Would like to try a car one though once I've got a car/sorted my car out so that it could last more than half a lap before exploding :p
