hi guys, im a newbie here.

Looking to build a new a pc soon, the spec's guna be roughly:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600
Tuniq Tower 120
2 gig ram 1066mhz - not sure which brand yet
2 x raptors 74gig in raid 0 for os
2 x 500gig in raid 1 for storage
nvidia 8800 gt
havent looked into mobo yet.

Its going to be overclocked so i want a case with good cooling potential, but i dont want it to look like a monster!

Looking to spend around £100, but can spend a little more if needs be.

The cases ive looked at so far are:

Akasa Mirage 62
Antec P182
Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos

Which case do you think will offer the best cooling & is there any other cases worth looking at?

Cheers, Gareth

Have a little look at the CM690 (coolermaster). I was originally going to go for the Thermaltake Shark but was swayed towards the 690 and have just received it.

For cooling it has the space for 7 120mm fans, so if that itsn't enough fans i dont know what is, lol. Other than that then it is just personal preference really, what the case actually looks like, colour coding etc.

Edit/ make that 8 fans, just looked at the box and didnt realise you can have a thin (15mm) 80mm fan on the motherboard side of the case.

Edit2/ and also Welcome to the Forums! :D

The CM690 looks like a good case, read a few reviews and the cooling seems to be very good.
The only down sides i can see is that it isnt the bigest of cases and its supposed to be quite loud!

Looking at it in the flesh it seems roomy enough (upgrading from an Antec Plusview 1000), it is slightly shorter, but is wider and deeper than the Antec, so am pretty happy.

Looking at a modding effort from one of the guys on the forums (killersheep iirc) he fits a nice watercooling setup nicely in the case with one loop. With regards to the noise, it will only be as loud as the fans u put in it.

Mines loaded with 6 x 120mm fans (soon to be 7). With all on max, I can hear my graphics card clearly over the lot. It's not that loud to be honest, but I've also got a Zalman 6 way fan controller to shut them all up. Now that I've gone watercooling, when I turn everything down, I can hardly hear my pc. Infact, I've ditched an old PC I use to run without a fan on the heatsink for media as it's just so inaudible.

Highly recommend the CM690.

Edit: You're right, it isn't the biggest of cases, but it's big enough to house all that's needed in it.

Ive got antec 900 does the job :D:D my gpu at load never goes above 65 and my cpu under stressing never goes above 52 and all the fans are on low- but sucks in ton of dust

Just bought a Akasa Mirage 62 this week along with some Sharkoon silent eagle 2000 fans. A fantastic case that offers excellent cooling and looks superb too. Chuffed to bits with mine :)
