Which CAT cable?

Decided to lay in some cable down from the office to the lounge for PC > 360 communication, but which cable should I put in - cat 5, 5e or 6? My network card and the router both support 1000 so should I put in cat 6?
 
Cat6 is a little more costly and a little harder to work with.

In the domestic environment you don't really need anything higher grade than Cat5e since this supports gigabit networking.
 
Cat5e its gonna take you a longggg time before you reach the limits of it and its still a bit cheaper than Cat 6.

Yeah I'm gonna go for cat5e - local DIY place has a big real at a reasonable price. I have the face plates for my network points - can I just make a hole big enough in the plasterboard and bolt these on afterwards, or do I need the boxes that go on the back - I'd rather not as this means making a huge box size hole.

Up to you - makes no odds to the cable but backbox is neatest and more robust.
 
I just drilled a hole through the wall, and fed it through. The hole was just big enough for the head of the cable, and if you hid the entry/exit parts behind some furniture, your laughing.

just remember guys this is a home network, i cant see the need for cat6 just use cat5e its cheaper more than anything and just as good
