Hi guys

I want and Intel Core 2 Duo system and with selling my 3800+ and mother board and memory I can get about £200 - £250 together? I'll buy a graphics card towards October this year on my B/D :)

Should I get a DDR2/3 board for future proofing? Will my budget cover that?

Whats the best parts do we think at the minute, also I may wait until the end of July for Intel price drops

Little bit over budget but it does include a motherboard that supports DDR2/DDR3. You will need a PCI-E graphics card to run though (or PCI if you don't care about games for the moment). :)

Looks good to me I have a sonic tower to cool the beast, need to check it's compatible with this chip as I have 939 atm?

Whats a good cooler otherwise?

I have a X1900XT 512mb card so thats fine!

Thanks for the reply ;)

Noctua NH-U12F or Tuniq Tower if the Sonic Tower doesn't fit but an awful lot of socket 939 coolers are compatible with multiple sockets anyway so a replacement might not be necessary. :)

Suppose I could bay it all seperately and maybe get a new cooler :)

Will have to have a read up on what the tower fits, it has a 120mm bearing fan so I'd like to keep if I could.... we'll see

What clocks could I expect on that? I have an Antec 900 case with great air flow?

3ghz maybe 3.2?

It is difficult to say exactly but the CPU has a 9x multiplier so running the Ram at stock speeds (333mhz actual) gives you 2997mhz and the Ram seems to often be able to go near to 500mhz or above but you would reach the limit of the chip long before that happens. :)

Not likely. Maybe £120.

It is true that the parts aren't worth anywhere near £250 but then the original post could be taken to mean that including the money raised by selling the parts off tweakinfreak will have £200-250 total. :)

I wasn't sure, the question mark made me think he was asking wether they would get that much, and since we don't know how much money he already has I didn't think he would be asking wether the total would be £250.

Ok I have 3800+

DFI Ultra-d board boxed

2gig Corsair XMS3200 CAS2 dual channel

Plus £100 maybe £150 to add myself :D
