Hi,

I was asked to help my cousin build a new PC and think to suggest the new 6350 6core CPU. However I don't which chipset is the best for AMD CPUs?
Any help?

Thx

The 970 chipset is common, but it does not have any builtin gfx so you would need a gfx card.

Also these are I think all ATX form factor.

Best 970 chipset is the ud3p, their is a couple of matx boards, but not that really good.

If you want the best chipset which is the 990fx, but is not needed unless you want to have more than 1 gfx.

Any of these 3 boards are fine.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £189.07
(includes shipping: £11.10)

The 760G chipset is what's used on the AM3+ m-ATX boards and it comes with onboard graphics.

The 9xx chipsets (970 etc) don't have onboard graphics and will need a separate GFX card. As stulid has said, I'm pretty sure they're all ATX boards as well.

Edit, so OK there are a couple of m-atx boards, but as jamie says they aren't great.

Thank you for all the replies so far.

Would you also recommend an APU? My cousin will have the PC for common uses (web, office), but also some image processing.

Thank you for all the replies so far!

The purpose of this PC will web, office and some image processing through photoshop. Currently he is not planning to have any gaming but who knows... (we used to play a lot as we were younger).

I know Intel is faster but they are also more expensive.
