Hi, Im creating a website for a nightclub and thought it might be an idea to go down the CMS route, that way i can just pass it over, and not have the bother updating it.
The main part of the site will have youtube clips of the bands playing, pictures, perhaps a 30 second taster of their music etc etc. In the future i'd like to be able to add an ecommerce part so people can buy tickets/merchandise (although this wont be added yet)
Which CMS would you guys recommend i started with?
Thanks

wordpress needs no plugins to display youtube vids...however I still use a plugin called smartyoutube....because I have for years! e-commerce there are several plugins....I've not gone down that route yet though. of course you're spoilt for choice with Wordpress in the themes and plugins dept. and it's fairly easy to get a mobile/ipad/tablet version going aswell...

want do you want to do? Wordpress is fairly easy to get into, any questions just ask away...obviously you need php, mysql and an ftp account to get it up and running, but as regards a tutorial it's a vast subject. honestly just ask me, or hit us an email at 3dcandy[at]gmail[dot]com

sorry buddy, i wasnt thinking right for a minute there. Ive set up wordpress on a test URL for the minute, ive bought a theme which i like, and think would suit the website i have in mind. I think it may be just trial and error? ill have a play around to see what i can come up with.
Cheers

P.s Is it easy enough to save the work i do on this test webspace, and swap it over to the real webspace when finished?
Thanks

yeah, in the dashboard there is an option to export/import a site, it's under tools. open it up by clicking the down arrow next to tools and have a looksy. The importer may not have been installed, but it's just a plugin and is dead easy. Other plugins I recommend are :
W3 Total Cache - best caching plugin, also enables you to send mobile visitors to a different theme.
All in One SEO pack - easy seo
Google XML sitemaps - informs google etc. when your site updates and makes a sitemap available for faster and easier indexing
Sociable - easy bookmarking links
Statpress - easy visitor stats, combine with WP Google analytics
WP to Twitter - post updates etc. via Twitter automatically

Enjoy, it's pretty good. I'd turn on pretty urls via the permalinks settings makes things nicer.
